Facts of Note
Pisoni 'La Tache'
Situated at an elevation of 1,300 feet, and lovingly farmed by two generations of the renowned Pisoni family, Pisoni Vineyard is one of the New World’s most storied vineyards. The 45 planted acres here are divided into small blocks that follow the contours of the mountains. The lean, decomposed granite soils are well-drained, stressing the vines and forcing their roots deep into the earth in search of water and nutrients.
The valley opens to Monterey Bay, allowing cold fog to roll in from the Pacific Ocean, blanketing the valley in both morning and evening. The majority of land remains natural grasses, Coastal Live Oaks, and continues to harbor prolific wildlife.
In 2017, everything came together to produce a profoundly structured Pinot Noir with sophistication and velvety layers of Luxardo cherry, red plum and lavender. This fruit was our last pick in the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA.
Nose: Opulent fragrance of dark cherry, red plum and lavender.
Mouth: Seamlessly integrated tannins, with impeccable balance and brightness.
