PALATE
The palate unfolds with freshly picked blackberries, balanced acidity, and refined tannins. Well-integrated oak adds depth and complexity to a driving finish.
Nestled in the coolest part of the Russian River Valley, Keefer Ranch embodies refinement and elegance. Established in 1996 with elite clones, this distinguished site benefits from the region’s gentle winds and persistent fog, which extend the growing season and enhance the development of its exceptional fruit. Since our collaboration with the legendary Marcy Keefer began in 2005, we have been captivated by the site’s unique character. Fermented in a combination of stainless steel, concrete, and oak vessels, then aged for 15 months in oak and wood cask/foudre, the 2022 Keefer Ranch Pinot Noir reveals a sophisticated balance and depth. The nose is marked by enticing aromas of black cherry, plum, and rose petal with hints of lavender and a touch of toasted spice. On the palate, vibrant flavors of pomegranate and raspberry intertwine with nuanced notes of vanilla bean and subtle peppercorn. Smooth tannins and bright acidity lead to a beautifully dynamic finish, highlighting the cool, deep fruit characteristics with a delicate floral undertone. 2022 Keefer Ranch Pinot Noir
Fact of Note: Keefer Ranch was aged in 18% wood cask/foudre for 15 months.
THE STA. RITA HILLS IS located between the towns of Buellton and Lompoc in Santa Barbara County. A critical component for this region’s success is its cool climate and the purely East/West mountain range, whose maritime mouth funnels coastal fog and wind to the vines. This unique orientation, coupled with exceptional Botella clay and limestone soils, produces wines that are as focused and bright as they are alluring.
Before you hit the Sta. Rita Hills, stretch your legs and explore the various hotels, restaurants, parks, and shops of the quaint town of Buellton. Now famous after making its silver screen debut in the movie Sideways, you can relive the film by visiting one of the many charming eateries and must-go spots when in the area.
With soaring aromas and pure, exquisite flavors, these are incredible wines from a not-to-be-missed vintage.
