SINGLE VINEYARD SERIES

2017 Rosella’s Vineyard, santa lucia highlands Pinot Noir

In 2017, Mother Nature delivered a concentrated harvest and our talented team worked tirelessly to bring the fruit in at peak quality. These wines are inspired by our desire to capture the essence of many of California’s best vineyards for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. This place-driven focus guides every decision in both vineyard and cellar, and each year we strive to produce exemplary representations of vintage and terroir.

Farmed by legendary winegrower Gary Franscioni and named after his wife, this vineyard experiences a maritime climate with strong winds blown in from Monterey Bay. Foggy mornings with sunny afternoons keep these coastal slopes much cooler than the Salinas Valley just to the east.

We only receive a small portion of this 50-acre vineyard, but the prevailing wine features wild strawberry, prickly pear, blood orange and watermelon rind. An exciting Pinot Noir, with exotic spice traits and strong cellaring potential.

Fact of Note: The Vineyard was named for Gary Franscioni’s wife

SANTA LUCIA HIGHLANDS, CALIFORNIA

THE SANTA LUCIA HIGHLANDS IS recognized for producing some of California’s most powerful yet intricate and impeccably balanced Pinot Noirs. Perched upon the East-facing terraces of the Santa Lucia Mountains, the vines are consistently cooled by wind and fog drawn from the depths of Monterey Bay.

Within this region is the city of Salinas, an agricultural town surrounded by fruit and vegetable growers with a comprehensive climate blended of coastal breezes and sun that is ideal for grape-growing. There are plenty of favorite local hangouts to discover if you make the stop. The BBQ is truly magical and worthy of a detour in and of itself.
